In Olympia, the state House paused in its business Monday to offer a resolution honoring the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Junior. John Sattgast reports.

Sattgast: Newly-elected Republican Representative Teri Hickel was among the speakers who paid tribute to the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King's work toward compassion, non-violence, and unification as one people.

Hickel: “It is within our abilities as state representatives to honor all of our communities. This can be challenging with the many issues we face. But in the light of Reverend King, we know that all of our children in this great state deserve a chance to succeed. As Reverend King demonstrated, we may get tired, but we shouldn't waver.”

Sattgast: 30th District State Representative Teri Hickel. The resolution was adopted unanimously.

John Sattgast, Olympia.
